401k Plan

401k retirement programs are qualified defined contribution retirement plans that allow you to set aside money for retirement on a pre-tax basis. Many employers match a portion of the money you contribute. Your eventual retirement benefit is based upon the total contributions made by you and your employer (if applicable), plus investment earnings on those contributions. A 401k plan may be offered by most private employers.

Just because your employer offers a 401k plan doesn't mean that there is anyone in your company who will help you determine which asset allocation is right for you. In fact, if you have a plan administrator at your company, he or she will not give you any specific advice about how to invest because of legal liability. If you're new to investing, the array of choices offered by these plans can be overwhelming. There's an excellent chance that your plan has the right selection of funds available for you to invest in. How do you choose them? NetInvestmentAdvisor.com is here to help you! Our Retirement Planning Tools will guide you through determining the type of investment plan best suited to your individual situation. The first step is to determine your individual risk tolerance.

What is your tolerance for investment risk?
Of course, you would like to receive the highest possible return on your investments. However, there is always a trade-off between expected return and risk. Aiming for high investment returns generally means accepting a higher level of investment risk. Risk tolerance is your ability or willingness to endure declines in the value of your investments while you wait for them to return a profit. Some investors find it easy to ignore market fluctuations and to focus on their long-term investing goals. Others become anxious when their portfolio declines in value by even a small percentage.

Your financial goals, current financial situation, investment experiences and attitudes all contribute to your investment profile. We have created the following FREE Risk Profile Questionnaire to help you determine your attitude toward risk. We'll ask you 9 multiple choice questions designed to gauge your ability to tolerate investment risks and your financial capability to take such risks. Then we'll give you your score and tell you how much risk you can afford, and how much you can tolerate.

After completing the Questionnaire we urge you to complete the Retirement Planner to fine tune your investment strategy.
